I have had the hardest time finding a shampoo that I like. I don't know what the deal is but I need some help.
I was recently using a natural shampoo with argan oil that my hairdresser sold me and I didn't like it because it didn't really lather. I like a good lather :)
Before that I was using a shampoo and conditioner by Keune and I didn't really like the way it smelled.
I had used Aveda products for years before that so I recently decided to give them a try again. I got the color conserve shampoo and conditioner and damage remedy for a once a week deep condition.

I have not been happy with this either! It is the weirdest thing but my hair just doesn't "feel" clean even after I've just washed it. I have rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, but it feels like there's a film or something on my hair.
Sooo, I need some shampoo suggestions! I have fine, color treated hair that can tend to get oily at the roots but the ends are drier. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?! I know you're all jealous ;)
Please help a girl out!
I don't know if I've ever commented on your blog. If not, shame on me (because I read often). Funny that shampoo would be the thing to grab my attention. I've been using the Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner which, for me, is MEGA expensive. I went into it doubting that it would be worth the extra money (even though I love and trust my hairdresser and she recommended it)....boy was I wrong. It smells good, lathers good and leaves my hair feeling really clean. And...the conditioner is even nice to my fine hair.
ReplyDeleteI love Biolage shampoo. They smell great and they're thick so they lather well!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Neutrogena makes a anti-residue shampoo that you use once a week. I haven't used it in years, but I remember it worked so well at really cleaning...I've been thinking that I need to use it again!
These are good products but maybe you need a weak vinegar rinse to really get all hair products out of your hair. This is an old remedy. Don't really know the ratio of white vinegar to warm water but may be just the thing and SO cheap.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you- love all Aveda products EXCEPT the shampoo/conditioner. Don't like it. And your description of your hair = exactly mine. Lately I've been using (and love) Tresseme for Color Treated Hair. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteI am back to buying cheap shampoo again (not a fan right now...) but twice a year Beauty Brands does their liter sale where you get a liter of shampoo or conditioner for $10! It lasts forever! When they do that, I like Graham Webb Heat Therapy. It's supposed to protect against heat damage. I blow dry and straighten my hair every day, so that's what I need. Not sure if that would work for you, but maybe another Graham Webb product would work!
ReplyDeleteYou just described my hair.....and I am in love with Matrix Biolage Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. Smells great, lathers well, and my hair feels very clean after rinsing! I hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI am cheap, Faith, but I like Herbal Essences because it smells sooooo good and I love that. And I use Pantene conditioner for this thick, frizzy hair of mine!
ReplyDeleteMost conditioners weigh down my hair because it's so baby fine. I just use Finese "Texture" shampoo (2in1) and it works wonders. I never thought in a million years I'd use Finesse, much less admit to it, but it is the end all be all for me.
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding your Holy Grail hair care!
xoxo Caroline
I use "WEN" it's a professioanl natural cleanser that I found on QVC, I use it with my regular shampoo b/c I like a lather too but WEN really keeps your color bright and last a longer time. You can email me with any questions.

I'm not jealous, because I have the same type of hair :)
ReplyDeleteI like Bumble and Bumble thickening, but it's a little pricy, just depends on what you're willing to spend. If you're looking for lather and cheap, the Tresseme shampoo is great and then I use B&B thickening and heat damage protector spray before the blowdry!
ReplyDeleteThe vinegar rinse really does get all of the build up off your hair. i use Suave, the one in the orange bottle that is silky smooth (I think that is what they call it).
ReplyDeleteIt works fine and leaves my hair shiny and smooth.
I LOVE Frederick Fekkai Protein Rx...it smells great, lathers good, and makes my hair feel really soft. Since it's a bit expensive, I switch it off every other time or so with Loreal EverPure. I like that one because it doesn't have sulfates in it (which is what strips your hair color quicker) since I color my hair!
ReplyDeleteI have used Pureology and I agree, it lathers good and smells great...for but some reason it always leaves my hair feeling dry. I have some sitting in my shower now that I'm not even using. That said, I know a lot of other people that love it, but I'm completely a hair freak. ;-)
I had a horrible experience with Pureology and was shocked at how much I hated it compared to how much others love it. lol I started researching xenoestrogens and other chemicals to avoid and realized that SLS (sodium laurel sulfates) are not good for us, but try finding a shampoo without it. I was thrilled when Loreal came out with EverPure - SLS free!! I like the pink/red/magenta scent for color-treated hair.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried it? I love the price, the scent, and the chemical-decreased ingredients.
Girl, I just use whatever I can get cheap at CVS with Extra Care Bucks! :) But when I do splurge I get Biolage. My sister is a hair stylist and she uses it too.
ReplyDeletei love love love the LeCoupe Orgnx line. i use the De-Frizz. LOVE it! and it costs way less then salon brands which i have used for YEARS! i just wish this came in litres!

I have used Biolage hydrating shampoo for years and I love it, too, just like some of the others have mentioned. Try it! I think you'll like it. :)
ReplyDeleteJust another shampoo suggestion...since I don't think anyone suggested what I use. I go to Sally's Beauty Supply and buy their ION shampoo and conditioner. I like it and there are a few options. Sally's also carries other shampoos and stuff so it is worth checking them out.
ReplyDeleteI have super weird hair (it feels sticky after most shampoos) and am NEVER happy with the expensive kinds I've tried. The only kind I've found that makes my hair actually feel clean is Pantene Classic Care.
ReplyDeleteTry Bumble and Bumble products, I love the Creme de Coca shampoo and also the Gentle Shampoo and their conditioners. Also try just applying the conditioners to the ends of your hair that way you won't have that weighted down feeling. Check out their website there are all kinds of great products.
