Emery and Kinley - 1 month

Emery and Kinley, we cannot believe that you turned one month old on December 3rd! My, how fast this month has gone. We've thought often about how you weren't even supposed to be here until December 6th, yet we can't imagine you not having been here. This has been the greatest month falling even more in love with you and getting to know more about you.

Y'all are just the sweetest and most beautiful little girls in the world. You have amazed us since the moment you were born. You both have done so great nursing. You'll take a bottle well when needed also. Y'all haven't quite gotten the hang of the pacifier yet. You've nursed every three hours since you were born, but we just got the go ahead to not wake you up at night. Y'all have gone four hours a couple of times and we were so thankful for that! We hope to continue to work on a good schedule and routine to help you sleep a little longer at night. We've had a little change in our schedule lately as I ended up with mastitis and thrush. It has not been fun for me, but it hasn't seemed to phase you two much at all. You've still been eating great. Hopefully we can get this all taken care of soon.

You each sleep in your own pack-n-play beside our bed. We swaddle you pretty tight and you seem to like it.

During the day y'all are starting to have times where you are more alert, but you still do a lot of sleeping. Sometimes we'll put you in your papasan's to nap and y'all like it when they are vibrating.  We love to see your pretty eyes when they are open, and we're loving seeing more and more of them! You also like to sit in your boppy's when we have story time.  

We just packed up all of the preemie and up to 7lbs clothes that you used to be able to wear. Your daddy and I did shed a few tears. You are now fitting into your newborn clothes perfectly. You still wear newborn diapers - and we have gone through A LOT of them =)

We celebrated your first Thanksgiving. We can't even begin to tell you how thankful we are for you two!

You recently had your one month appointment with the pediatrician and we were all so proud of how you've grown! Here are your stats:

Kinley:

Weight: 6lbs 10oz

Dear Kinley,

Just looking at you makes us smile. You make the cutest faces, we call it your angel face because you make your little lips into an "0" shape. You also make these cute little grunts that I just love. I keep telling your daddy that we have to video them so that I will never ever forget. When your eyes are open you are usually looking around trying to figure things out with a serious face. Your neck is getting stronger and you love to lift it to look all around. You rarely cry, typically just when you are hungry. You seem to be pretty laid back, like your daddy, and I have a feeling you're going to be funny like him too! You like to sleep, like your mommy, and I hope it stays that way ;-) You have the sweetest little sleep smiles that just melt my heart. You are pretty noisy when you sleep and do lots of grunting and wiggling. You were pretty wiggly in the womb as well. Although you started out a little slower, you are a great nurser and have really caught up to your sister in this area. You get the hiccups a lot and also spit up a good bit. You love to be on your side. When we lay you down on your back you immediately roll to your side. I think that's how you were laying in the womb.  Your hair is a little lighter than Emery's and you don't have quite as much, but you haven't lost any yet. After it's washed it looks so cute, like bird hair. You are so pretty! You are growing so much and although it makes me happy, I just want you to slow down a little bit. Thank you for being my sweet girl. I love you more than words can say and I'm so glad I'm your mommy!

Dear Emery,
Oh my sweet girl, you are such a joy. Since the moment you were born your eyes have been so expressive and really tell so much about you. You've even rolled your eyes a time or two at your mommy! You have dainty little hands and I love how you hold them up near your face. Such a little princess! You make the sweetest little sighs when you are falling asleep, but like your sister, you are pretty noisy and grunt a good bit too. You love your bath. You've even fallen asleep in it before. You like to be pampered like your mommy ;-) You have a little more hair than Kinley and it's darker too. You are just so pretty! You are very strong and can hold your head up well. You are a great nurser and will usually suck your food down quickly and then you're out. You also get the hiccups a lot but you don't spit up quite as much. You've become pretty vocal this month and have shown us that you have a little temper. Things pretty much need to be your idea ;-) You can go from happy to not so happy pretty quickly. Your face turns red and you scream so loud! I've never heard anything like it. You love to be held and you really love it when daddy or me hold you in the Moby wrap. Truth be told, we love it too. Emery, I love you so very much and I'm so thankful for you!


Your daddy and I just look at each other all the time and talk about how we can't believe how blessed we are. We would have been incredibly blessed with one precious little girl, but we are so unbelievably thankful that we get to have TWO precious little girls! We absolutely LOVE being your mommy and daddy!!
