I survived!

Well girls, I made it through my first week of working full time! Thank you so much for all your sweet comments, emails and prayers. I don't know that I had ever been more thankful for Friday to come. =) We get off early on Friday afternoons and I was so thankful to come home to see my sweet man!

We were able to have a late lunch and run a couple of errands before my appointment with the eye dr. I had LASIK three years ago and was thrilled when my vision was corrected to 20/20. Y'all really wouldn't believe how blind I was before if I told you. Trust me, it was not good! Well, it had been a couple of years since I'd had my eyes checked and I knew it was time for an exam. Lately I've noticed that things were a little blurrier than they used to be and I just didn't want to go and find out that it was getting worse! Well, after staring at a computer all day, every day this week I've come home with headaches and my eyes feeling so tired, I guess from straining without even realizing it, and I knew it was time to find out.

Unfortunately, I heard what I did not want to hear...my vision has gotten worse and I'm now 20/40 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left eye. Not terrible, I know, but I was just so hoping that it would have stayed the same! So, I'm probably going to be getting glasses and wearing them at least when I'm on the computer and maybe driving at night. I was so sad when I had to try on frames and try to pick something out. I was hoping I would NEVER have to do that again. Oh well!

Then, after my eye exam, the dilation drops, and I guess working all week just catching up with me, I ended up in the bed with a migraine at 6:00pm. We had plans to go out with friends and we had to cancel because I felt awful. I just laid in the bed and cried! I fell asleep at 8:00 last night and slept until 8:00 this morning. I guess you could say I was exhausted!

I have to tell you, I have a whole new respect for ladies that work full time. Especially working moms and working single moms....I don't know how you do it. It is not easy at all! I am sooooo very thankful for my sweet husband. I just have to brag on him for a bit...he has set his alarm and gotten up with me every day this week, even though he doesn't have to be up that early. He has made me coffee and warmed my muffins up and even started the car on the chilly mornings. And, he surprised me yesterday by working on some landscaping projects in the front yard that I've been wanting him to do. He is just the best and I am so thankful for him!!

I'm excited about a long weekend and being off of work on Monday. Perfect timing! We don't have any big plans, except for sleeping in. Ha! Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

I will be praying...also so sorry for the migraine. I have been there SO many times...cancelled plans, laying in bed crying over the pain and just the overwhelming yuckiness of the whole situation. 9. Hi Faith!

It has been way too long since I have been by your blog and I had a lot to catch up on! First of all, BIG congratulations on your new job! It sounds like it was a lot of work though and a tough week. I will pray that the next week goes smoothly and that you will find peace in this journey, and trust in the Lord to lead and provide during this time of transition.

I was so sorry to hear about your migraine and not feeling well too. Rest well this weekend my friend and know that I am praying for you in your new life path! What an asset you are to the company, and a blessing to all those who get to work with you!

    Thinking of you...

    With love from Colorado,
    Denise :-)

  10. I'm so glad you made it through the first week, Faith! Working full time really is hard. It helps when you have a good husband, though!

So sorry you have to get glasses again. :( Steve had lasik surgery a few years ago and it was like a miracle had occured. Oh well...if glasses will help stop the migraines, then do whatever it takes, right??

    Enjoy your Memorial Day!!

  13. Yippee!! You made it! I'm so glad!

I am SO sorry you had a migraine. I've had those and they are horrible.

I recently got glasses that I'm supposed to wear all the time but don't. I do wear them when I'm on the computer and reading and they help so much! They will make your eyes feel better!

    Have a restful weekend!

    Blessings,
    L

  16. So glad that you survived your first week! I completely understand about the headaches and looking at the computer! So sorry that you have to have glasses again, but I have to say that you look adorable in your glasses. I can totally feel for you with the dilation. I always get a major headache after my eyes are dilated and I still don't feel good the next day!

Sounds like Chad and your Dad are cut from the same mold. I am so thankful that Dad gets up every morning and fixes breakfast for me, as well! You're such a good son-in-law, Chad! Thanks for taking care of my girl!

    I love you both,
    Mom

  17. Hey Faith~I enjoy reading your blog so much and happy you made it through your first week. I went back full time this past August and it is an adjustment. I wanted to mention you may want to look for the "filter" screen thing for your computer. I had headaches until I realized it was the glare on the computer screen...once I used the filter goodbye headaches. Thank you again for your inspirational words on your blog! Take Care & Have a GREAT 2nd week!

  18. After reading your post about going back to work full-time I wondered all week how everything went. I am so glad that your work week went well...even though it ended with a migraine. That is no fun at all. One good thing about this week is that it is a short week.

  19. Hey Faith,

Be encouraged - the first week at a new job is tough for anyone!

Not only are you dealing with new hours, but you have the emotional stress of "how do I do this?" "what if no one likes me?" "what's his name again?" and "where is the xyz?" to contend with. It WILL get easier. Just like learning to drive - you can't imagine HOW people can do hours long road trips when you are first behind the wheel with your legs cramping up from tension. But it gets easier and pretty soon you are planning your own road trip! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. :)

PS My mom's market basket made it to Florida IN TIME FOR MOTHER'S DAY! YOU ROCK!

  21. Faith,
I hope this week is going better with your eyes. I had intralase almost 3 years ago and I've stayed at 20/25 since, and I was legally blind without my glasses before the surgery ~~ crazy stuff!! I do, however wear reading glasses and they've given me a prescription for driving glasses, but I haven't gotten yet. But it's not so bad. Still glad I don't have to wear them all the time.

    Have a Blessed week,
    Dawn
