Here are just a few things that stuck out to me:
~ Insecurity makes everything curve back upon us. When we are filled with the Spirit, everything curves up and out to others. Security makes us think less often of ourselves. - Man, isn't that the truth?? I have been meditating on this point a lot lately.
~When you aren't walking in the Spirit, you are prone to deceitful desires that say "if you had this or that, or were like this or that" then you would be secure.
~You will not walk around in security by accident - you have to be deliberate. It begins in our thought life.
~How much of your unforgiveness has to do with insecurity? Wouldn't you be less easily offended if you felt more secure in Christ? - There were several situations that the Lord brought to my mind with this point...oh, how true!!
~To be secure, you have to know that someone unfailingly loves you. God does and He will never leave you!!
~You can either keep letting this culture get to you, or you can be exceptional in your culture. I loved this point so much. She explained that being "exceptional" means that you are the exception. For example: "Nobody could be friends with that person after what they did....except her." "No one can walk through that situation with joy...well, except for her" A secure woman is an exception - I want to be one, don't you?!?
There were over 300,000 women who took part in the So Long Insecurity simulcast that weekend. Isn't that amazing?! Can you just imagine how our Christian culture could be different if we would all be the secure women in Christ that we are called to be? Let's do it! Let's make the deliberate decision to find our security ONLY in Him!!

So Long Insecurity! (Part 3)
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Eph. 4:22-24

I am still myself probably months from now going to be putting into practice what I learned that weekend from Beth. I pray that each day my eyes and heart are opened more and more
ReplyDeleteI love this recap of Beth's teaching that day. It was packed full of truth I needed to hear.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the conference was awesome! I've just started to read the book, and I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteYou are dead-on in your recap. I loved the part about forgiveness and how security makes us think less of ourselves. She said so much that I needed, but that's how God works, isn't it? He has us sitting under His Word for a specific time and reason and we individually get something different.
ReplyDeleteI've loved reading about your Atlanta trip! I've got to go buy Beth's book- definitely something I need to read.
