We arrived in the 'Boro and after chatting and laughing for a little while with The Debster and Big Al we took off to see a little more of Jenna's hometown. We visited GSU - the home of the Eagles, the darling little downtown area, and we even got a tour of where Jenna spends her weekdays at work. We really enjoyed seeing all of this and learning even more about her life.
One place that we really wanted to stop by was Vandy's. This is a BBQ restaurant that Jenna's family owned for a large part of her life. Being the BBQ fans that we are, we simply had to have some. It was delish!
Thank goodness they fixed it and the show could go on! And, go on it did. Jenna and I kicked things off with some oldies, but goodies from country females. I am no Faith Hill, but I did have fun pretending I was for a while. ;-) And, let me tell you...my girl J can sing! She knocked some Dixie Chicks out of the park!
Next, Big Al took the stage. He is a serious performer and has a great voice! He definitely lived up to all my expectations. Seriously. So. Much. Fun. He was preparing for his big solo debut at church the next morning and we got a special sneak peak of the song. Loved it!
I channeled my inner Latina side and let Chad know that "I would be his hero, baby" and "I can kiss away his pain, oh yeah". Next up, Chad and I tackled a Shania Twain duet. In case he had any doubts, I reassured him that "I will love you, from this moment on." Then Chad broke it down with a fun rendition of "I will Survive". I'm not quite sure why he was pointing at me while singing "you did me wrong" though. What's that about?!?
Oh my, what a fun night it was! We reluctantly went to bed but were looking forward to the next morning. We woke up to a yummy breakfast that Jennababe had arranged for us and then headed off to church. We had front row seats to secure!
Big Al did SO good and it was such a joy to watch him sing. He and the choir sounded fabulous and it was a fun time. There was even clapping during the song!

Unfortunately we had to hit the road as soon as service was over. I was so sad to say goodbye after such a fun weekend. We seriously had THE best time and I'm still laughing about all the fun we had!
Al, Deb and Jenna ~ THANK YOU so much for your southern hospitality and welcoming us with open arms. We love you all and can't wait until next time!

Its so funny seeing two blog worlds collide! :) What a fun time! I'm jealous you got to sing karaoke with Big Al!!!! That's a once in a lifetime opportunity! :)
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!! Man, that was fun. I will LOL and "gtmq" about that weekend forever! Love ya'll!
ReplyDeleteAwww....I am SO jealous!
ReplyDeleteI doubt that Big Al was much more concerned than he was with her driving to Atlanta to stay in a hotel with 2 strangers she met on the internet! ( :
Next time ...I'm going as a stowaway!
Mimi! That made me laugh so hard. Ya'll were my maiden voyage of meeting blog friends! I think we are all in agreement that was a GREAT decision and it's been non-stop fun ever since. Next time I want you to come and I want to see you, Al, and Chad go head to head in the kitchen. It'd be a fierce competition - one in which we would all be the winners! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's strange to read a blog and see pictures you recognize. I grew up in the Savannah area until three years ago when we moved to the Boro.
ReplyDeleteMy oldeset daughter moved first to go to GSU, and met a man who would become her husband so soon after they married we also made the move.
Good grief! Faith- you just look so pretty in all of these pictures! Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time for all of you! I love the "weirdness" factor of Big Al having people over for the night that his daughter "met" on the internet! Faith and Chad would be welcomed in any of our homes!!! It is strange to those who do not blog or understand there are just some people you gravitate to...be it real life or "bloggy" life!!
ReplyDeleteJenna, You do look MAR VA LOUS, my dear!!
SO SO fun!!!!!! What a great weekend!!!! :)
