My precious little loves are five months old. Man, time does not slow down and this month has flown by just like the last four have. I cannot get over how big you are getting! Your daddy and I look forward to each and every day with you and cannot wait to see your faces each morning!
You both have your hands in your mouth all. the. time. Emery will even suck on her thumb occasionally. I keep checking for signs of teeth coming through, but none yet!
You girls are the best sleepers and, for that, I am very thankful! You're sleeping around 11 to 11 and a half hours every night. You go down around 9pm and wake up between 8:15 and 8:30am. Sometimes it's been 9am before you've woken up.
You nurse every three hours during the day and take three naps in between. Your daytime feedings are around 10-15 minutes and the feeding right before bed is usually 25-30 minutes. Emery had a rough week or so with napping and would wake up after having been down about 45 minutes. I went back to swaddling her during naps and that has really helped get through that sleep cycle transition. We also hung some blackout lining behind your curtains to make sleeping during the day a little darker. I think y'all are like your mama and like dark rooms =)
You are still fitting in 0-3 and 3 month clothes and wearing size 1 diapers. My tiny little peanuts! I think we'll be moving on to 3-6 month things soon. You have some cute spring clothes and I can't wait for you to be able to wear them all!
Y'all are so strong and amaze me with all of the new stuff you're doing. Kinley, shortly after I wrote your four month post you rolled from your back to your belly! You were playing on the play mat on your back and the next thing I knew you had rolled over! You haven't done it again since then, but that's okay with me =) You both roll from your backs to your sides all the time. I can't leave you alone anymore unless you're on the floor. You both love to kick your legs up and reach for your feet. It's the cutest thing!
I love to see you interact with each other. It's the sweetest thing and just melts my heart. You will "talk" and smile and just stare at each other. I'm so thankful you each have a sister to share life with.
You love to play on the play mat and sit in the bouncy seat and watch it light up and play music when you kick. You still love to be read to, your owl crinkle toy, Sophie, cat and dog rattle toys and the tambourine. Some other toys you're loving this month are the O-ball, the leap frog music table, blocks and looking at yourselves in the mirror. Y'all are really getting good with your hands now and having so much fun playing! I love watching you figure new things out.
This month you went to church for the first time and celebrated your first Easter. It was such a special time with you. We also went to your first play date! Your mommy has been waiting a long time to be able to go to play dates and have her own babies with her! You were so good and had so much fun playing with these sweet little girls! (from left to right: Katie and Emmy, me and Emery, Michelle and Kinley, Ashley and Caroline, Rachel and Maggie)

It's been such a fun month! We are excited about the weather warming up and being able to get outside with you more. There's just so much to look forward to!
We were able to get your weight at a quick dr. appointment this month, but we had to get your approximate height at home. Here are your stats....
Kinley:
Weight: 12lbs 1.6oz
Height: about 24.5 inches

My darling Kinley girl,
I honestly could just eat you up with a spoon! You are the sweetest little thing. Your personality is really shining through this month and you are just so much fun. You do have your moments, but you're still laid back and go with the flow pretty much all the time. You have discovered your voice lately and love to "talk" quite loudly and we love to hear it (I just don't think everyone around us in church wants to. Ha!). You say ahhh, aggg, geeee, gooo, mmmm, and make gurgling sounds. You're also laughing a lot and it is the most precious sound. You're pretty ticklish and we can usually get you giggling by tickling you. You love to smile and have the biggest grin on your face as soon as you wake up in the morning. You crack your daddy up because every time he gives you a bath, you somehow find the drain in the bathtub and stick your little finger in it to plug it up. You make us laugh so much. You've also been pulling your right sleeve up over your hand lately. I don't know why, but it sure is cute. You still have quite the bald patch on the back of your head, but the rest of your hair is growing. Your eyes are beautifully blue and I could just stare into them all day. Kinley, you are such a joy to us and we could not be more thankful for you. We love you so very much!
Emery:
Weight: 12lbs 9.2oz
Height: about 24.5 inches

My precious Emery Grace,
Your cuteness is just too much for me to handle and I cannot get enough of you! You have the best facial expressions and make me laugh just looking at you. You can just see the sass sometimes, which makes me a little nervous for the future, but I love it. =) If you aren't happy about something, you definitely let us know! You love to talk and you make the sweetest sounds. I love to hear you laugh. It makes my heart so happy! Your high pitched gurgling/squealing is my favorite. I love when you smile so big that your eyes squint and you turn your face to the side. It's the best! You LOVE your daddy and your eyes light up whenever you see him. I love seeing you interact with him. You even talk to him in different ways than you do me. You love to be held and like it when me or daddy wear you in the baby carrier. You refuse to take a bottle now. I guess you just want your food straight from your mama =) You aren't really a morning person (like your mommy). You will stretch and rub your eyes for a couple of minutes after waking up and then you'll give us a sleepy smile. It's so precious. You still have a bald spot in the back also, but the rest of your hair is growing more and it is dark and so pretty. Your eyes are a beautiful blue and your eyelashes are long and perfectly curled. You are so full of life and you bring us so much joy, Emery! We love you to pieces, sweet baby girl!
They are so pretty! I just love reading about what they are up to each month. :)
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE reading these updates. I remember aching for you all during the time you were trying to get pregnant (having had infertility and IVF troubles myself).
ReplyDeleteMy twins, Grace & Faith, are now 5, but still so similar to their baby days. One was (is) very laid back and mellow...the other a bit more sassy ;)
SUCH a joyous time!!!! 5 years feels like yesterday...I remember every single thing! :)
How cute are those two looking at each other in their Bumbos?! ADORBS!
ReplyDeleteOOK - this may be a weird question, but I cant figure it out. Are they idential or fraternal? I think they look so much alike, but I know my nieces are fraternal & people said that about them & I was like, "are you crazy - they look nothing alike" - but now I guess I'm in their shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with these babies. The pic of Emery sucking her thumb made my heart melt. I love thumb-sucking babies!!
ReplyDeleteThey're so beautiful, Faith. You can see their sweet personalities in every picture. Love the monthly updates. They're growing so fast...have you started planning the first birthday party yet!?? HAHA! I know you have!
Love you!!
Thank you for sharing these monthly updates with us. Your love for your sweet girls shines through the most. I love getting small glimpses of their personalities.
