One of my favorite things to eat during the summer are vine ripe tomatoes. Oh, they are soooo yummy! I was talking to my mom about how we didn't really have a "source" for any good tomatoes this year, and she reminded me about some family friends that have a garden and how they wouldn't mind sharing with us at all.
So, last week Chad and I headed over there to load up. Just look at all these!
And, they didn't let us leave with just tomatoes. We also got some beans, okra, cucumbers and green peppers!
So you can probably guess what we had for supper that night....bacon, tomato and cheese sandwiches! Chad is always in charge of the bacon, he knows how to cook it perfectly!
And, what else do you do with okra but fry it??? I got busy chopping.
This is what we ended up with, and OH MY WORD it was so good!!! I can't believe there are people out there (ahem, you know who you are!) who don't like tomatoes!!! How could you not eat this delicious goodness?? Please excuse our fine china ;)
Have I mentioned how much I love this man??? And, not just because he can cook! ;)
Okay, I am now starving so I'm off to figure out something for dinner!
Oh, I wish I were eating at your house! I absolutely love fresh tomatoes and BLT (minus the L) sandwiches. And fried okra!! Yum!!!
ReplyDeleteYUM!!! I wanna come over for dinner! :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteYUM~! That looks awesome! You two are quite a team in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI just had dinner and now I am starving! Thanks alot! :-) Those veggies look sooo good!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am one of THOSE people. I just don't like tomatoes unless they are cooked, but now the okra, YUMM!!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for good friends with gardens! I can't wait to taste that apple recipe Chad came up with!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I have that SAME fine china! lol
Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYour okra and dessert look yummy. And I'm one of those people... I just don't love the tomato. :)
I LOVE tomatoes! I can eat a huge plate for dinner and be content. My dad has a big garden, but now that I'm not at home I don't get to eat as many as I'd like.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great hubby! Those sandwiches look amazingly tasty!
Gotta say that I wasn't hungry until I read this post! Ha! Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of dinner! Sandy is the bacon cooker in our house too. He can get it just right. I am too impatient and end up with limp bacon, which will not do on a tomato sandwich!
ReplyDeleteWe are available for dinner ANY night of the week. hint hint :)
ReplyDeleteYummy!! There is nothing like a ripe, summer tomato!
ReplyDeleteAnd the okra looks amazing too!
I am sad to say that I am one of those people...lol! I can appreciate good fried okra and beans thought!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I have fresh tomatoes in the garden and I know just what I will do with them now! Yummy yummy yummy!
