Georgia on my mind

We're here! Mom and I got here Friday afternoon after a long drive down. Of course, we had to stop at the Varsity when we went through Atlanta. We stopped at the one downtown, and it was CRAZY in there!

Saturday was actually their 80th anniversary and they were having a big "to-do", so we were thankful that we didn't get caught up in that mess...it was busy enough as it was!

Of course we got our "usual" chili dog, onion rings ,Varsity Orange and fried apple pie. Yum!

Once we arrived we spent the evening looking through old pictures and reminiscing with my grandmother. She had a huge box of pictures that we sorted through and I picked out a bunch that I want to take home and frame. I loved to see the pictures of my mom and her brothers, my grandparents when they were married, the trips they took and the things they did as a young family. I'll have to try to scan some of them when I get home...there's one of my grandmother on her wedding day and I think I look just like her!

Saturday my mom and I drove around looking at little gift shops so that I could get ideas and see what other people are selling. We had a great time and found several cute little shops!

Then it was time for a trip to a place that I have heard about for a LONG time....Dinglewood Pharmacy.
My mom grew up going there for their famous "Scrambled Dogs" Oh y'all, it was SO good! My family has tried to duplicate this recipe and I have to say it's pretty close! The recipe is so highly regarded that my mom told Chad that he couldn't have the recipe until after we were married!

We had our picture made with Lieutenant, who has been serving hot dogs there for 62 years!

After that we continued our trip down memory lane and stopped by my great-grandmothers house. I have always LOVED this house and was so sad when they sold it years ago. My mom has a really neat story about it that she is going to share later. Look how cute!

Then we went by to see my grandfather and visited with him for a while. I was loving on his puppies, a bloodhound named Daisy May and a doberman named Laura (after Laura Bush!)

Here's Daisy May...would you just look that face (and those ears!) ?!?!?!

Me and my Grandaddy

Saturday night we had a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs (imagine that!) and spent some time with my uncle, aunt and two cousins. I can't believe I didn't get any pictures of them, so I will have to try and get one later. My cousin, Katelyn, was the flower girl in my wedding and is now all grown up and about to be 13 years old! Mercy, does that make me feel old!

I have more to share, but this has been long enough (I'm sure you agree) so I'll update you all later. Please continue to pray for my grandmother as she prepares for surgery tomorrow...I know that she is a little anxious, so please pray for God to cover her with His peace. They will most likely begin to operate around 12:00 or 1:00. Thank you all for your prayers!
