The Saturday of Silence

I was listening to the radio this morning on my drive into work and the radio hosts were doing an interview with Max Lucado. Max has written something like nine books on the subject of Easter. Although he said really all of his books will come back to the death, burial and resurrection of Christ because that's really what it's all about!

He mentioned that as we approach Easter weekend all people really talk about is Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, but what about that Saturday? The Saturday of Silence. A lot of us live our lives on that Saturday, he says. We've accepted Jesus and His salvation, but we're still waiting on our Sunday.

Maybe you're like me and you're living in between the offered prayer and the answered prayer; the experience of pain and the solution of pain. But you know what? Jesus knows! He breathed His last and then experienced that Saturday of silence, that Saturday of suffering before He was resurrected the next day.

I loved hearing this and then seeing Easter weekend in a new light. I'm so incredibly thankful for what Jesus did for me on the cross. I'm incredibly thankful that the Father raised Him from the grave on Sunday. And, I'm also incredibly thankful for a Savior that knows and has experienced the in between time as well.

"sorrow will last for the night
but hope is rising with the sun
(its rising with the sun)
there will be storms in this life
but I know You will overcome
but I know You will overcome" (fee)

How great is our God?!?!?

I pray that each of you have wonderful, worshipful Easter weekend!

  9. Thank you for sharing that Faith! I've never thought about that "in between" day before reading your post. Offered prayer and answered prayer?! That is incredibly profound and it will definitely cause me to view Easter in a new light as well.

  13. Thank you for sharing that.
I have been excited to get online and over to your blog tonight. I was at Pottery Barn Kids today and guess what they have that you will need. An owl night light. It is the cutest thing. They also have a piggy one but the owl is so sweet. I checked online to see if they had a link I could give you but they dont. Just in case you go to your PBK's first thing tomorrow to get this and they dont have it...Have them order it from the PBK's in the Woodlands, TX.
I promise you will love it!

  14. I have thought about this before. I wondered what happened in the hearts and lives of the people on that Saturday. I wonder if they anticipated His resurrection (like He said!)or if they mourned? I am waiting on His answers to some things too! I want to choose to believe His word and not mourn in the mean time!
    Thanks for sharing!
    Love you!
