and one of them is outdoor things. I am not an outdoorsy girl by any means and I am pretty much terrified of any kind of flying, slithering, creepy, crawly creature.
I am loving this beautiful spring weather that we are experiencing now, but I could certainly do without a couple of things that come along with this season.
For one, the carpenter bees are back in full effect. We get them every year and I don't know how to get rid of them! I HATE them with a passion. This is what greets me when I walk out my front door:
Y'all, I literally take off running out the front door while that thing is buzzing and hovering near my head. Then, there's another one that hangs out at the end of our sidewalk, so I nearly twist my ankle trying to make the turn and get in the car as fast as I can to get away from the things! I'm sure my neighbors must think I'm crazy if they ever see my exit strategy!
Then, if that isn't enough to contend with, I have to dodge all the caterpillars that have made their way to the front porch. These little woolly things are EVERYWHERE!
Ugh!!! I cannot stand them either. And lastly, there's the little green lizard ("Lizzy") that hangs out on our front porch year after year.

This year she is getting a little too close for my comfort and has been hanging out ON the storm door. One day last week we came home and Chad got to the door first and said that Lizzy was on the door. Well, the next day I walk to the door first, and as I'm opening it I think "Oh, I didn't look to see if Lizzy was on the door" and right about that time I see Lizzy FALLING FROM THE TOP OF THE DOOR TO THE GROUND RIGHT AT MY FEET! Y'all, I screamed bloody murder and even did the little run in place move! I just kept thinking "what if it had fallen in my hair???" I really think I would have passed out. So, now when I'm walking up the sidewalk I make as much noise as I can by stomping my feet and jingling my keys warning every little critter that I am on my way. (Again, wonder what my neighbors think?!?!)
I know I'm a wimp, but I just can't handle it! It's almost enough to make me not want to leave my house ;-)
P.S. I'm still creeped out from just searching for the images to post on here. I'm itching all over and keep getting the chills! Ugh!!!
I am with you girl on the bees- they swarm right above my car in the car port!! However, I think the catepillar and lizard are adorable!
ReplyDeleteAs a personal witness to the key jangling walk to the front door, I can tell you that I'm SURE your neighbors are laughing.:)
ReplyDeleteYou would have died yesterday at the Martins. Let's just say there was a crawdad that may or may not have escaped his little container. Maybe we'll find it tonight! ha!
EEK!!! I completely share your dislike of the creepy crawly things... I could definitely do without those in my life too!
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing thinking about your exit & entrance strategies. HAHAHAHA!!!
You would hate me... I will pick up the furry critters & the lizards... they dont bother me at all..
ReplyDelete& I LOVE those big bees - they dont bother you... when I was young, we had one at the house & every time I would lay out, it would come by my head... I would talk to it & it would just fly by my face... I always told everyone I had a bee for a friend... ever since - I love those big bees!
Do the insects, bees, and lizards have ears to hear you coming?? :)
ReplyDeleteI too HATE all creepy crawlies! Yuck! They give me the shivers! The other day at work, out of the blue, a spider dropped at rapid speed from the ceiling in front of my computer screen. I screamed and jumped up! I made a co-worker crawl on the floor until he found it...and killed it! :)
We've also had little frogs stick to our back door lately. I'm NOT a fan of them either!!!
Your so funny!!! :) I loved reading this post. :)
ReplyDeleteYUCK-O....I hate those things, too. Sounds like you are being stalked by them!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this funny post!
I'm not laughing, but I am laughing! I had mental pictures as I read your posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm really am sorry for your fright. I just hope those bees do not sting you. And I have to admit too catepillars gross me out and I love the country.
Faith, this made laugh out loud! I could just picture you running and screaming! LOL
ReplyDeleteI was doing okay....until the lizard! Could not handle that one on a regular basis - ICK!!
ReplyDeleteOh you are so funny...the bugs don't bother me, but we have birds that like to build nests right outside the front door. Everytime I walk out, they flutter and fly around my head and I just scream! I feel your pain! I love to look at birds from a distance, but when they are close and flapping those wild wings I just lose it. Stay strong my friend, and cover your head! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're not a wimp....I hate those little things too :)
ReplyDeletethis post cracked me up! i am the same way! and somehow we had a lizard in our house too, it was hilarious watching hubby catch, haha! those things are fast!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny, Faith! It IS a bad time of the year for you. Those little critters are everywhere right now!! Sorry! :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. I'm not crazy about creepy crawlies either, but I don't think they creep me out as much as they do you.
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOLOLOLOL. The image of Lizzy catapulting towards you (and the aftermath that followed) just made my day. You are too funny girl, and I'd also like to add in regards to your bug creepedoutedness: AMEN, my sista.
ReplyDeleteUm, not to freak you out, but what kinds of things do you think you might run into in Brazil?! I take it you don't camp? I don't like snakes or any kind of reptiles. If it's not furry and cute, I don't want to see it! On Saturday there were 8 wasps flying around in between our storm window and kitchen window. Eeewww!
ReplyDeleteYou DO know those little devils may be eating your porch as well as terrorizing you??!! Some varieties bore holes!! I sympathize--I am afraid of birds and one flew into my house last week--the whole world out there and he wants to come in my house!
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute! I felt the same way when I found out we were getting caterpillars in our classroom to study the butterfly life cycle! We watched them form their chrysalis and then eventually become butterflies! It was awesome, but I can relate! I remember eating lunch at my desk and seeing the caterpillar cup crawling with 5 caterpillars only a few feet away from my meal! AHHH! I moved it right away to the other side o the classroom and that is where it stayed! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Faith! I completely understand! Those creepy crawly things scare the pants off of me! You never know when they are going to show up and get a little too close for comfort!
ReplyDeleteFaith you are funny!! I think some of these critters can be cute, but NOT when they invade my personal space! Like the one time in Hawaii that I went to take a shower, and was already undressed, and there was a HUGE gecko on my shower head!!! Talk about scary!!! I screamed SOO loud. Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWow, Faith! Bet you had a difficult time designing my blog with all the nature things which I love!!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so with you! EWWW!!
ReplyDeleteLast year I watering my flower pots on the front porch and one of those little frogs jumped out of no where onto my flip flopped foot. I screamed SO LOUD! Josh came running out of the house because he though I was being attacked. When I told him that it was a frog he just rolled his eyes at me.
Oh you poor thing..bugs don't bother me much...but SNAKES do! I hyper ventilate when I see them. My guy neighbor is worse and it is quite funny seeing his wife scoop up the snake and chase him! We all have our phobias! I hope you get to enjoy the weather..Is there any bee spray that will help?
ReplyDeleteBless your heart! There are some creatures that I am not a big fan of, but overall the little guys don't bother me. Not sure how I would of done with one falling on my head!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! I can certainly attest to your phobia as I thought I was going to lose you to a "B-52 Bomber Bug" last Friday after lunch! Good thing I had a grip on the stroller, huh?
ReplyDeleteAnd yes,I am thinking that the neighbors are probably wondering about you. (-;
Love you!
I can SOOOOOOO relate!!! My biggest problem this year is a MEAN bird that built a nest in my front yard tree and ATTACKS my head everytime I walk out the door. I have to crack the door open so he hears the noise and flys away so I can walk out. It is rediculous! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are funny girlfriend. I know you have dealt with little Lizzy for years because we have those too! I don't want it to get in my house! THAT's when I freak!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I'm with you...no creepy crawlies for me either!
ReplyDeleteWe have SO many lizards around our house and a few have made their way inside on occasion...eew!!! I have a very funny story about a time I had to get a lizard out of the house by myself...can't imagine what the neighbors thought of me! ha!
I don't like creepy crawlers either. I got stung in the mouth by a bee when I was in preschool and I have been terrified of bees ever since. Can't stand them!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I am SO with you! I am getting the heeby jeebies just reading about them all!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in North Carolina we were infested with those caterpillars. I am not kidding, they were crawling up my house in the millions. It was so nasty. My kids had a blast catching them but I was just sick about it. UGGGG!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Faith!
ReplyDeleteI can SO relate! While I absolutely love the beauty found in the outdoors I can gladly view from the window when the creepy/flying and whatever else things are around. I'm severely allergic to any wasp/bee sting so I can run like you wouldn't believe when they are near me.
When we relocated to Florida just over 2 yrs ago I almost left :) when I saw lizards/frogs and snakes on the SIDEWALKS! It has been an adjustment. Thankfully I don't see the snakes or frogs very often at all and I have grown accustom to the lizards that are always around.
I'm with you sis.
Bless you.
Hi! I saw you on the prayer list (from Kellys Korner) & just wanted to stop by & say I'm praying for you :) We are struggling also & are seeing a fertility specialist now. I have been off BC for two & half years & have been diagnosed with PCOS. I take 1000 mg of Metformin daily & the doctor said I can't take the Clomid anymore b/c I've taken it to many times. I'm hoping this new doctor will do wonders for us. I have faith that maybe this will be our year & hopefully yours too! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteBonnie
Not even sure how I came across your blog design but was glad that I opened this blog..I was rolling in the floor reading your post about the bee. My phobia's are snakes...you wouldn't think so by growing up on a farm but yikes..can't stand them..
ReplyDeleteI love your blog designs...they are beautiful.
Faith, I just made a purchase from your store and wrote you a note. Then I realize that I don't comment very often and you may not know who I am! Anyway, I'm totally psyched for my mom to get her market tote for Mother's Day. :)
ReplyDeleteJuice
Haha I hate those carpenter bees too. Ick.
ReplyDeleteI cannot stand any bugs! Your blog is absolutely adorable!!
