Last night was our Sunday School class' girls night. We had Shari Braendel come speak to us on what not to wear, as well as what to wear. It was SO much fun and we learned a lot.
First, we went under the light to figure out our coloring. Here's Mom...this was the point where Shari asked what our natural hair color was, without any color/highlights in it, to which my mom replied, "Your guess is as good as mine!" Oh my!

My precious friend Katie
And Katie brought her adorable mom, "Jules"
Here's Emily and Jessica
Shannon and Melissa (Melissa got props on her brightly colored shirt! She did good!)
She talked about undergarments, and the proper position of "the girls". Melissa was such a good sport!
She helped us figure out our body type and how to best dress for our particular shape. But along with the right shapes and colors that we should wear, she also stressed the importance of dressing modestly. There are so many Christian women who are dressing inappropriately and in turn, are a stumbling block to other men, our friends husbands, and even our pastors. We have a responsibility to make sure that we are not playing a part in that temptation.
It was such a fun, fun night! If you have the opportunity to hear Shari speak, jump at it! Have her come to your church to speak to your ladies or youth group. It is so worth it and you will leave knowing more about what looks good on you on the outside and with a confidence on the inside that only comes from the Lord, knowing that He created you perfectly in His sight, and He is enthralled with your beauty!
I have heard her before at a MOPS event and it was great!! I never (well- almost never) let myself wear black now, because she told me it was the worst color I could put on for my skin/hair combination. :)
ReplyDeleteSO Fun. I need this lady to come be my friend. Glad y'all had a great girl's night!!
ReplyDeleteOH my word. The bra. It's all I'm gonna say.
ReplyDeleteOk, I will say that I had fun with the other two amigos and our other friends too! :)
Love ya!
You look great in yellow and those shorts...they were a hit! Thank you for the kind words about the workshop and the privilege of ministering to your group the way God allows me to...love ya, Shari
ReplyDeleteHey cool! Shari commented! That's a great review of the night! I might not even bother now. My pics aren't that good. I'll just say "please see Faith's blog" and call it a post. ha!
ReplyDeleteI would love to do something like that. All of the things you mentioned she covered are very interesting to me. That is such a fun, change of pace for a Sunday School party.
ReplyDeleteThat's the verse for the Do you think I'm beautiful bible study!! =) I LOVE that verse!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you all had such a good time! It looks like a blast!
This sounds like such a fun night! It's always nice to get some helpful hints one on one with an expert! I know you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun and very, very helpful. I'd love to do something like this one day.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I could definitely use a class like that...although I'd be scared of what she'd tell me! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounded like such a wonderful, fun evening!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need some guidance in the fashion department =)!
What a fun girls night! I would love to do something like that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I was just reading your moms page, and now i am even more mad I didn't get to come. How funny are you saying "the girls". I am LOL because I say that all the time. And look at Shannon standing on something. Talk to you soon.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love a good ladies night, especially when it is uplifting and informative. I would have loved to have been able to listen in. I totally agree on the modesty comments. We do have a responsibility and I believe it should not be taken lightly.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you and your friends had a good time. Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about the modesty issue. We are supposed to resemble the Proverbs 31 lady in the Bible. Too many times have I seen low cut shirts, short skirts and shorts at church. It is a temptation to every man in the church building. Thanks for the update! Know that I am praying for you! Have a blessed week!
Kara -John 3:30
How amazing...and doing it with friends is SO much better than going through it on TV! I always feel for the people being criticized in front of the world, but for a couple new wardrobes I might endure it too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun night!!
How fun it looks like ya'll had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for inviting me to go. I had a great time and learned some valuable information.
ReplyDeleteI love you,
Mom
That is SO fun, Faith. I wish we could do something like that- I would love to get her advice, esp. for the show. SO many times I wear something I think looks okay and then I see it on TV and want to run shouting from the room!!!
ReplyDelete(My husband has instituted a "no yelling at the TV" rule!:))
Love you so much and am praying for you tonight!
