Ikea, I think I love you

I'm just a little bit excited about this long awaited, humongous blue box now being open for business!

ikea

I went to the grand opening on Wednesday, and on our second try of the day, we got in! Y'all, I have never seen anything like this place! I have always wanted to go to the one in Atlanta, but whenever we are passing through, there is just not enough time to stop. Now, we have our very own store just a few minutes away!

I must admit, I was a little overwhelmed walking through that ginormous place, but I saw SO many things that I could use. My purchases were quite random (a toilet brush and some cutting boards!) but they were so cheap I just couldn't pass them up!

I have my eye on something like this to store dvd's and Xbox games in our tv shelf...they are out of control now.

Also on my wish list is are these really cool, long shelves to display picture frames on. This is the best picture I could find, but they are about six feet long and the frames lean up against the wall.

I can't wait to go back! Hmm, maybe I can talk Chad into going with me this afternoon???

Y'all have a great weekend!!!

  2. Girl. Ikea is where it's at.

The first one I ever went to was in Los Angelos (random, I know - my friend Linds and I were out there for a wedding). Anyways, out of everything we saw in LA, Ikea holds our fondest memories.

It was so funny because as we were walking through, we saw a couple of random jackets laying around and then we also saw some empty fast food bags. We were like, "this place is so big people are having to abandon their clothes and stop to eat just so they can make it out alive!"

    Love you friend!!

  3. I am SO jealous! I'm in Kansas City and we don't have an IKEA. I love that basket. We had to get one for our Wii stuff because it was out of control too!

FYI - my friend is preparing for her IVF transfer on Tuesday. She has 2 embryos they will thaw on Monday. We are praying for LIFE for both of the embryos and LIFE for nate and kimbra. Thank you for your prayers. You are so precious!

  4. Ikea is the best. A lot of our furniture is from Ikea and we LOVE it. You can seriously get lost in the place. It's fun to go there for breakfast/brunch and then go shopping, their food is super cheap! Glad you finally got one in Charlotte.

  8. How fun!! We have IKEA in minneapolis too and I love to pop in every now and then to see what's new. They are also a great place for a cheap ice-cream cone! Here's my advice to you, NEVER go to IKEA on the weekends if you actually need help. It's ALWAYS a zoo and you can never find an employee to help when you need it. The weekdays and weeknights are a much better experience! You couldn't pay me to be in an IKEA on a Saturday or Sunday though :) Enjoy shopping!! They really are fun to have in town...

  11. I can not wait to go myself! I've been babysitting this week, and didn't think it would be a good idea to take 3 kids 3 and under by myself, so I've not got a chance to browse those new isles yet. But I hope to be there soon!

  13. We just went to Ikea a few weeks ago! OUrs is about an hour away, but SOOOO worth it!

I have those boxes, by the way, and they are PERFECT for storing DVD and CD cases.

We always bring home the most random stuff, too. Last time, it was storage boxes, and under-the-couter wine rack, and a lamp. :)

  24. There is an Ikea by my parents house. We went once. It was totally overwhelming. I could hardly take it all in! Plus it was a 4 hour adventure in the store. Wow. We bought pretty random stuff too- a mirror, some cutting boards and some food storage stuff. We weren't looking for any of those things! I am glad you enjoyed your trip.
