Scripture Memory Verse #4

It's that time again! I have to admit that I may have bitten off just a little more than I could chew with my last verses, or I haven't really spent the time that I should have on learning those three verses, but either way I have not completely memorized that passage. I pretty much have verses 9-10 down, but I'm not even close on verse 11. Here's what I have so far...

"So, we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad."

I'm going to continue working on this passage and memorize verse 11, but there's another verse that's been on my heart for a while so I'm going to add it too. It's fairly easy, and I pretty much already have it memorized, so I think I'll be able to handle it!

"For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace," Romans 8:6 (NASB)

God has been showing me over and over that I must take every thought of doubt/worry/fear/unbelief captive and not allow those to be what I set my mind on. I want my mind to be set on the Spirit of God which will in turn bring life and peace to my heart. I pray the same for you!

If you haven't already discovered Blue Letter Bible you really need to check it out. It has this great tool that will let you search for a scripture, then if you click on the little blue "v" it will show you that verse in many different versions. Perfect for picking out which version you want to memorize because you can see them all right there together! Thanks Mom for passing that site along to me!

  5. I can't believe that we are already on week 4, can you? I had difficulty retaining my passage for last time, too. I think I just need to devote more time to it.

I have really enjoyed the Blue Letter Bible site, too. So amazing to have all of that info in one place. I love being able to see a particular verse in all the different versions right there on one screen.

I love that verse in Romans, too. There are so many that I want to commit to memory --I guess I just need to start making a list of them. We've got 20 more to go this year!

Hmmm.....Sounds like God has been showing us some of the same things!

    I love you to pieces!

  10. I will have to look into this resource too. I am currently in a women's Bible Study working on Psalms and often don't know the "right" answer...having a few other versions of the verse to read would be really helpful! Thanks for the tip! :-)
