Be fruitful and multiply

To be honest, I was not looking forward to doing my Bible Study this morning. I knew that we would be finishing the second half of Psalm 128, and I knew that it was talking about being fruitful and bearing children and seeing your children's children, etc. I really just didn't want to talk about it. I mean, I know that God wants us to be fruitful and multiply...and believe me, we are giving it our best shot! It is NOT from a lack of trying, I can tell you that for sure!

But as I went through today's study, the Lord showed me through His word that as a part of the New Testament bloodline, the Bride of Christ we are commanded to increase and bear much fruit for the kingdom. Christ wants me to bear fruit that will last, and to be focused on helping others find abundant, eternal life in Him. My priority should be spiritual, eternal offspring.

That doesn't mean that I'm not still praying for my own physical offspring. In fact, in God Calling this morning I was reminded to "Claim big, really big, things now. Remember nothing is too big." And so I do claim them and believe that God will bless us with children.

But I also want to be obedient to His command to "go and make disciples of all nations." Father, You are the vine and I am the branch. I can only bear fruit by abiding in You. I pray that You will be glorified by Your children bearing much fruit. Thank You for allowing me to be Your child.

Side note---I like the new fancy look! You're going to be changing this thing all the time aren't you?:)

  3. Oh girl! I thought of you too! I am praying for you every single day. I am sure those days are hard, but I loved the part that talked about being fruitful in other ways too. It was a challenge to me to think outside of myself.

Ooo! oo! Me too!! Help me too!! :)
