Birds of a feather

They stick together. Ask me how I know this.

So, you saw my post before about the new shoes we ordered for our booth. Now let me tell you the story of getting them up there. You just aren't going to believe this!

We ordered quite a bit of shoes and there were several boxes that I needed to take out to the van (please don't ask me why we drive a minivan when we don't have kids yet...we thought we were being prepared for the future when we got it) Anyway, back to the real story.

So, I'm making my way out to the car with the boxes, and it takes me several trips to get them all. I take my last load out and push the button on the remote to close the van door. It was then that I heard some kind of ruckus coming from inside the car and about that time I see a bird INSIDE the van flying around! And I have just closed the door so now it is trapped inside. OH MY WORD! I am screaming and jumping around my driveway like an idiot! I'm sure my neighbors wondered WHAT in the world I was doing. But those of you who know me, know that I am petrified of outdoor things. I don't care what it is, big or small, I don't like it....not one bit!

I pushed the button to make the door open again and this time it flies into the front passenger seat and is just sitting there. So then I realize I have to work up the courage to physically open the front door. What I would have given to have a remote for that one! I finally opened it and ran away quickly...nothing. No bird escaped. So then I start opening and shutting all the doors hoping that the noise will scare it and it will fly out. It finally does. Thank the Lord above!

By this time, I am just a wreck. My heart is racing because I have been jumping around and screaming like a mad woman! I am now late to meet Melissa so I get in the front seat and start the car, trying to compose myself enough to be able to drive. I started the car, put it in reverse and start to back out of the driveway when lo and behold I hear something. I didn't know if it was just the boxes moving around, but I look in the rear view mirror and I see ANOTHER bird in the very back of the van flying around! Y'all, I am not making this up! I flung the door open and started to jump out, but then I remembered that I was still in reverse, so I had to put the car in park and then jump out. I get out of the car and am standing in the driveway and then I start to wonder how I am going to open the doors with the remote when the keys are in the ignition. So, I ducked back into the car with my head underneath the steering wheel to take the keys out. I get them out and start the same routine again with the opening and closing of the doors. It FINALLY flies out the drivers side door and I am again thanking the Lord above!

You might be thinking...."That couldn't really happen. She is totally making this up." But y'all, I have proof!

That would be bird poop.

See, I told ya!

I called Chad to tell him about what happened, and do you know what the first thing he said to me was? "You need to blog about that"

So, there you have it!

  2. Too funny!! Did I tell you about the time a bird flew in our house (and all the way up to Noah's room?)? It also left a "deposit" on Noah's wall. It was a riot! Maybe I'll have to blog about that one!

  4. Oh girl. There's something about those birds. My sister was driving down the Interstate in Florida and an Ibis (those white birds that stand on cows) flew into her window. She freaks and starts screaming and rolling up the window but the birds head is too far in so she's just trapping it. THEN she figures out that she has to roll it back down to get it out which she finally has to PUSH it off the window. So there's feathers and poo all inside the car and all over the outside too! All this while going 70 down the Interstate!! So let me just tell you that I TOTALLY believe you!!! LOL!!!

Love the shoes too and WILL be going to the booth SOON! Love ya girl.
